Summer is in full swing, and with the soaring temperatures, it's crucial to pay extra attention to your dog's health. Heatstroke is a common danger for dogs in the summer, and pet owners must be aware of its symptoms and take effective preventive measures.

1.Symptoms of Heatstroke

1Early Signs: Dogs may start to drool excessively, pant heavily, have an elevated body temperature, and become restless. They might frequently lick their lips or keep searching for shaded spots.

2Severe Symptoms: If heatstroke progresses, dogs might become dazed, lose consciousness, or even fall into a coma. At this point, their body temperature may exceed 105.8°F (41°C), which is extremely dangerous.

3Other Indications: Vomiting, diarrhea, and foaming at the mouth are also common in dogs suffering from heatstroke, which can lead to organ failure if not treated promptly. If you notice these symptoms, immediate action is necessary.

2.Preventive Measures

1Provide Plenty of Water: Ensure your dog always has access to clean water to prevent dehydration. Place water bowls both indoors and outdoors, and regularly replace the water with fresh supplies.

2Create a Cool Environment: Keep indoor areas well-ventilated with air conditioning or fans, and provide shaded spots outdoors. You can set up a simple shade tent or place a comfortable mat under a tree.

3Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid taking your dog out during peak heat hours (usually midday to early afternoon). Choose to walk them in the early morning or evening when the temperature is lower and the sun is not as strong.

4Use Cooling Products: A portable outdoor folding pet pool is a great tool for keeping your dog cool in the summer. It's easy to carry and store, making it perfect for various outdoor settings. Letting your dog play in the pool not only cools them down but also adds fun.

Stay tuned for more tips on how to keep your dog cool in the summer, including emergency actions, which we'll share tomorrow!
